Who has an Edmonton Oilers fan in their family? Haha! I selected these colours because I love how orange and blue go together, and the fun white & blue checker fabric was calling out to be used up. I was also excited to experiment with the new orange and blue warp strings that had just been put on the loom. So I created this bright, striped rug, and when I finished tying the knots and laid it out all I could think of was the Edmonton Oilers! The royal blue and bright orange are the same shades as the iconic hockey team, and having grown up watching Canadian hockey in the Gretzky-filled 80’s this combo is seared in my brain.
But no, all that said, this rug will suit a variety of decors and not necessarily remind all of your guests of last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs. At 35″ wide it is the most generous of all widths, and nearly 4 feet long with the fringe. It would be great in a kids’ room, as a feature in your living room, or to brighten up a fun bathroom! Care Instructions: Machine washable, regular wash, hang to dry, fluff in dryer if desired. Vacuum with NO beater bar. Fringe edges may be brushed with hairbrush. Shake out crumbs and debris between washings as necessary.
“Upholstery Selvedge” is a waste product from the industrial upholstery fabric supply chain in the USA where the discarded edges of commercially-made upholstery fabric that cannot be used in furniture manufacturing are sold in bulk to rug supply shops. It is highly durable, colour-fast, made with current home decorating colours, and available in a variety of soft textures. Making woven goods from this excess material turns something useless into a functional and fashionable home decor item and saves our earth from housing more garbage.
