Description
I’ll let you in on a little secret: I didn’t design this rug. My Gramma did! She also sourced the materials and did some of the prep work, many years ago. Two soft old cotton sheets were transformed into this striped masterpiece which is primarily royal purple and contains stripes with tiny patterns of yellow, pink, red, and blue. Gramma had a good eye for which patterns would turn into beautiful rugs, and I remember her patiently sitting at the sewing machine for hours to artfully join strips end-to-end. I’ve added warp strings in an complimentary mix of white, light taupe, terra cotta and turquoise, which is both elegant and whimsical. It’s a labour of love and inspiration from two generations of weavers.
