Launching a New Feature
to honour the start of a new year
Dipping into the past to bring forth wisdom for the present, seeds for the future
This image is a postcard that I very specially created in 2019 when my earlier experiments at entrepreneurship and holding space for others brought me the opportunity to own and run a Mindfulness Retreat Centre.
It was a gorgeous property, with a lakefront view and prairie habitat, perfect for meditation, yoga, artwork, creative writing, and other self-reflective practices.
It was called The Four Pillars, based on the four guiding principles that I find most important in life (well, four, in addition to love and gratitude; they are part of the foundation of everything and don’t require explicit description).
The Four Pillars have always been in the tagline at the end of each newsletter,
and can be found on the main page of the website:
~ Truth ~ Beauty ~ Service ~ Creativity ~
Going forward, each edition of my newsletter will feature short reflections on the four topics, drawn from what I’m currently thinking about and how I am experiencing each element.
These four themes are meant to be touchpoints to creating a deeper inner world for yourself, and when used intentionally they may also translate to better quality and more enjoyment of the outer world, too.
…To Speak and Experience TRUTH in Thought, Word, and Action
Before I’d ever heard the word ‘authenticity’, this came to me as a non-negotiable to feel complete within myself, and satisfied and honoured in my relationships.
…To Recognize and Appreciate BEAUTY in all of our Surroundings
Deeper than our culture’s shallow focus on what’s currently seen as ‘beautiful’, this is about accessing what you particularly find beautiful as an in-road to personal discovery.
…To Freely Give and Receive through Loving Acts of SERVICE
Happiness and fulfillment don’t happen in a vacuum. A full life involves relationship, sharing, generosity, reciprocity, supporting others, and asking for help.
…To Open One’s Own Window to the Soul by Expressing CREATIVITY
Our talents are our treasure, so when we explore and delight in whatever practice we are drawn to, we come ever closer to shining our unique light into dim corners.
As always, these are shared in no particular order.
If you’d like to receive the newsletter so that you can follow my musings and perhaps also incorporate these four elements into your life, just add your name and email address at the very bottom of this page.
Thanks for following along!
Definitely won’t send more than x2 newsletters/month.
And I’d love to hear what your thoughts are on The Four Pillars, and how you use them!
